Juno Lighting Group comprises a family of six lighting category brands, and is a single source of lighting manufacturer for commercial, retail, industrial and residential applications throughout North America. Our Des Plaines location seeks an experienced Lighting Education Instructor & Program Coordinator. 

Overview

The Lighting Education Instructor and Program Coordinator serves as JLGs primary lighting educator.  This is a highly visible, customer centric position.  The person in this role first and foremost must project a positive attitude and enthusiastically represent our company, products, and capabilities. The position reports to the Vice President Product Design, who also serves as a secondary instructor for our lighting education program.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Create/maintain content for all lighting education programs including instructor led classes, e-learning, training videos and AIA/IDCEC registered field presentations
  • Serve as the lead instructor for scheduled classes and customer visits
  • Maintain product samples and displays used for training
  • Be the point person with our administrative services team in support of efficient planning, scheduling and setting agendas for customer visits
  • Recommend product and placement and coordinate the installation and controls programing of the most recent JLG products in the Conference Center, IdeaLab & other high visibility areas in the building

Secondary Responsibilities

  • On a selective basis be accessible as a consultant resource to customers and other departments as the JLG “lighting expert”.
  • Submit new content and maintain eligibility of existing content, for continuing education credits with governing bodies including AIA and IDCEC.
  • Be the primary lighting education contact for local chapters of design/technical societies (IESNA, ASID, ALA) as well as Colleges, Universities, and local educators. 

Lighting Skills/Knowledge Qualifications

  • Outward passion and enthusiasm for lighting
  • Deep understanding and working knowledge of lighting fundamentals
  • LC and/or CLC certifications with experience doing lighting design for residential, commercial, industrial and outdoor spaces.
  • AGI32 or equivalent lighting application software competency is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of current lighting energy codes including ASHRAE, Title24 and IEEC.
  • Minimum 10 years varied lighting industry experience; including working at or with electrical distribution, manufacturer’s representatives, electrical contractors and lighting specifiers. 

General Skills/Qualifications

  • Outstanding verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Personable and outgoing…must enjoy working with and be effective at eliciting a positive response from a wide array of customers
  • Willingness to do hands on, behind the scenes manual work to prepare for and set up/tear down training meetings and have the physical strength and agility to lift and move items up to 50 pounds.
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint
  • Undergraduate degree in a related field from an accredited university
